Over the Rhine is one of the best alt-folk bands out there right now, and I highly encourage every single one of you to check them out. But for now, just watch their new video for “Desperate for Love” and bask in the mellow vibes.
Scott Weiland still boozes…a LOT November 24, 2008

Apparently the American Music Awards were last night, but I of course don’t give a shit, so I missed it. But for those of you who didn’t see it (i.e. everyone), you missed some entertaining things. First and foremost, former Velvet Revolver and newly reformed Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland was given the high honor of introducing Pink. And it was clear he was wasted during said introduction.
Check it out here.
Also, Kanye won best Rap/Hip-Hop album and gave a heartfelt speech. However, that speech contained him talking about pushing the envelope and breaking new boundaries like Zeppelin, Hendrix and The Beatles did. Give me a fucking break. Stop making shitty ass mainstream pop, and THEN talk about breaking boundaries. Oh, and take a lookie loo at who were the presenters for the award. Grrr…
here.

The Hives & Cyndi Lauper – “A Christmas Duel” November 24, 2008

The Hives aren’t really relevant anymore, and I would argue that neither is Cyndi Lauper, but the two parts have come together for a Christmas tune, and it’s actually pretty damn good. It’s entertaining at the least, which is what matters the most, right?
Pop-Up video for Weezer’s “Troublemaker” November 21, 2008

Like the new album or not, the guys in Weezer are consistently doing some pretty fun stuff, thanks mainly to the fact that Rivers Cuomo is one goofy bastard. A new version of the video for “Troublemaker,” which features a bunch of random people attempting to break a bunch of random Guinness Records, is up with pop-up facts about the filming, etc.
Couple that with the fact that “Troublemaker” is one of the few songs on that album that I still really enjoy, and it’s super fun. Check it out here.

Dream Theater’s Jordan Rudess, in conjunction with animator Mika Tyyska and Intel, has created a nifty little website in which you can put together various keyboard sounds to create your own song. It’s fun, and way more addicting than I thought it’d be.
Check it out at Keyboard Wizard.

Odds are you’ve heard of these guys, but if not, grab their most recent album, “Furr” and rock the eff out to it. It’s one of my favorites of 2008 without a doubt. Check ‘em playing the title track for Mr. O’Brien at Hulu.

Okay, so chances are that he’s always been into porn (I mean, who isn’t? Right? Right?). Anyhoo, Showtime, the network that likes to play softcore porn all the time anyway – which is by no means a bad thing…watch Californication, it effing rocks – has greenlit a series from Rogen about three twentysomethings who peddle pornography.
Everything Rogen touches has turned to gold lately, so chances are high that this will be good. Check out Variety’s story on the show here.

Everybody’s favorite controversial Dallas Cowboy went on Letterman last night to do their “Top 10″ feature, giving his top 10 pieces of advice to kids.
Like you’d expect from Letterman, the segment is kinda funny, mostly lame, and sneakily will cause you to laugh out loud if you’re not careful. My favorite: #6.
